Dear Parents,

Please be aware that homework is to be completed nightly. This weeks Tic-Tac-Toe Literacy Assignments will be due Friday March 4, 2016 . All Math Study Links will also be due Friday. Please make certain students have school supplies. Many students are not bringing in pencils, markers/colors pencils, dry erase markers or scissors. These are supplies we use on a weekly basis. Also, we are still in need of pencils and lined notebook paper. Please donate. This week we will begin our oral black history projects

Weekly Objectives

Math- 4th graders will continue with the world of FRACTIONS!!!!! Students will find fractional parts of polygons. Students will also continue to decompose and subtract fractions. Students will justify decompositions by using a visual fraction models. Students will also identify lines of symmetry in figures and objects.

Literacy- Please dialogue with your child about their novels. The Anchor text for the week is “The Moon Runner ””. Pg, 455” 4th graders will be introduced to the Climax in a story. students will identify the turning points in their novels. . We continue identifying various types of figurative language, this week we will focus on hyperbole.

Writing: ThinkCerca 4th graders from Room 206 are continue to rock with ThinkCerca. Students in Room 206 completed their first 5 paragraph argumentative essay. Way to go 4th graders!  Think Cerca is a web-based curriculum that gives students the opportunity develop and build upon critical thinking strategies in both reading and writing. This week students will be beginning an argumentative writing on “Should students be monetarily compensated for high test scores”?

Science- Students will further explore the development of mealworms  and comparing and contrasting Aquatic and Terrestial Ecosystems/Animal Sensory Systems

Social Studies- Students will further investigate the Northeast Region of the United States. Students will identify each of the states and their capitals on a map. Exam is Wednesday. Students will also learn to make generalizations with informational text.
