Dear Parents,

I hope you and your children had an exciting spring break! A reminder: Parent Report Card Pick-up is  Thursday, April 16, 2015, there will be no classes for students. Please continue to encourage your child this is our last quarter together I have lots of exciting lessons planned!

Weekly Objectives

 

Math- 4th graders will begin this week finding fraction/decimal/ percentage equivalencies. Students will have to identify and record real life examples of percentages.

Literacy-The anchor text for the week will come from Journeys “The Fun They Had” pg.637.  Students will read and identify author’s purpose- we will use text details to find out author’s reasons for writing. Students will also revisit questioning. They will ask questions before, during and while they are reading.

Science- “The Catapult” 4th grade students will begin Project-Based Inquiry Science. Students were introduced before break but will begin to practice science in the classroom the way that scientists and engineers do. They will work in collaborative groups to solve problems, conduct investigations, make models, collect and analyze data, write explanations, and discuss and present findings.

Social Studies-Planning A Trip” Students have been studying the 5 regions of the United States.  For the next two weeks students will pick a state it’s capital and plan a vacation. They will create a budget for their vacation. Students will begin by selecting a city, give a summary on why they selected that city. They will research travel expenses ,  hotel, dinning  and attractions. Students will present their findings to their classmates

Monday:  STUDENT GENERATED BOOK LOG. Read “The Fun They Had” pg.637, Study Links 9.1. Journal entries 31 & 32 due Tuesday Study for Midwest Region test on Friday.

Tuesday:  STUDENT GENERATED BOOK LOG.  Tic-Tac- Toe Study Links 9.2. Study for Midwest Region test on Friday

Wednesday:  STUDENT GENERATED BOOK LOG.  Tic-Tac- Toe Study Links 9.2. Study for Midwest Region test on Friday
