Dear Parents,

Please be aware that homework is to be completed nightly. This weeks Tic-Tac-Toe Literacy assignment will be due Monday March 9, 2015 . All Math Study Links will be due Friday, March 6, 2015. Make certain students are prepared for their Black history Presentations this week. this would include a research paper, oral presentation in 1st person and prop of some sort(please see the rubric).

 

Please make certain students have school supplies. Many students are not bringing in pencils, markers/colors pencils or scissors. These are supplies we use on a weekly basis.  We also need boxes of Kleenex, pencils, scissors and lined notebook paper. Please donate.

Weekly Objectives

Math- 4th graders will continue with the world of FRACTIONS!!!!! Students will convert fractions  into  decimals and investigate probability. Students will also add and subtract fractions with like terms

Literacy- Please dialogue with your child about their novels as we come to an end. The Anchor text for the week is “Sacagawea” pg, 503”    4th graders will continue with the Climax of a story. students will identify the turning points in their novels. They will also look at the rising and falling action in their novels. We will continue identifying various types of figurative language, students will practice their figurative language raps.

Writing: ThinkCerca 4th graders from Room 206 are now on and rocking with ThinkCerca!!!!  Think Cerca is a web-based curriculum  that gives students the opportunity develop and build upon critical thinking strategies in both reading and writing. Please note that Think Cerca can be used at home.

Science- Students will begin a unit on Ecosystems. Students will identify differences between Abiotic vs.  Biotic factors in an Ecosystem.

Social Studies- Students will further investigate the Southwest Region of the United States. Students will identify each of the 4 states and their capitals on a map. Students will also learn to make generalizations with informational text.
