Dear Parents,

Please be aware that homework is to be completed nightly. For this week each assignment will be due the very next day. No assignments will be collected on Friday or Monday. Each book log entry, study link is due the following day, same applies for tic-tac-toe. Please see below in the homework section.

Weekly Objectives

 

Math- 4th graders will begin to practice using a full circle protractor. Students will also practice classifying angles and placing coordinates on a grid

Literacy- 4th graders will receive their new guided reading books on 1/26/15, please dialogue with your child about their novels. The Anchor text for the week is “Ecology for Kids” 4th graders will use information to analyze and make inferences. Students will read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.  We continue identifying various types of figurative language, this week we will focus on personification and alliteration.

Science- Students will continue with activities about the form and function of their own body with an emphasis on the Muscular system.  **Special Guest Parent Speaker on 1/27/15

Social Studies- Students will begin to identify states and capitals in the U.S. by region

Tuesday:  BOOK LOG. 1. Tic-Tac-Toe assignment due Wednesday, Study Links 6.7. Write Math facts 1 times each (6x’s – 12X’s)- due the next day ,  Timed Test Friday.

Science:  Student Reflection “What did you learn from our Guest today? ”Name 3 take-a-ways.Share with parents (Extra 5 points)- must have parent signature

Wednesday:  BOOK LOG. 1 Tic-Tac-Toe assignment due Thursday, Study Links 6.8. Write Math facts  times each (6x’s – 12X’s)- due the next day ,  Timed Test Friday.

Dear Parents of Room 206,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a fantastic weekend!  Last week we had an unexpected additional vacation due to the extreme cold.  Please note that some assignments on the homework chart may be repetitive from last week.  Please make certain school supplies are replenished. Many students are missing pencils, colored pencils or markers, rulers and scissors. Please note that our Winter NWEA testing will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

 

Weekly Objectives 

Math- 4th graders will begin Division! Students will practice solving multiplication and division story problems by using diagrams. They will become  familiar with a variety of strategies to solve equal group division number stories. Students will also have their Unit Assessment on Wednesday 1/15/15

Literacy- 4th graders will use information to analyze and  make inferences.Students will read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text. Introduction to Figurative Language- Metaphor vs. Simile

Science  Students  will be engaged in thoughtful activities about the form and function of their own body with an emphasis on the Muscular system. Students will develop a classroom workout video with an emphasis on 3 major muscular groups.

Social Studies- Unit Test Review- Our countries Economy/ Political System Introduction to Land and Resource Maps. Readers will  infer the meaning of unknown words. Readers will also  determine the main idea when it is inferred.

Monday:  BOOK LOG.  Read Antarctic Journal” Pg 329 Complete Math Test Study Guide. Circle all difficult problems be prepared to discuss 

Tuesday:  BOOK LOG. Tic-Tac-Toe,  Study Links 6.1. Write Math facts 2 times each (6x’s – 12X’s)- due the next day ,  Timed Test Friday.

Wednesday:  BOOK LOG. Tic-Tac-Toe, Study Links 6.2. Write Math facts 2 times each (6x’s – 12X’s)- due the next day ,  Timed Test Friday.

Thursday: BOOK LOG. Tic-Tac-Toe, Study Links 6.3. Write Math facts 2 times each (6x’s – 12X’s)- due the next day ,  Timed Test Friday.
