Happy Thanksgiving! Reminder: No School Wednesday November 26, 2014 to Friday November 28, 2014
Great news!!!! Student are doing much better on timed multiplication test! Please continue to practice with your child every night. Students were given additional time for their project summaries.
Supplies needed: lined paper, pencils, individual pencil sharpeners, colored pencils dry erase markers
Weekly Objectives
Literacy- Inferencing/Generalizations- 4th graders will make simple inferences, using information from texts 4th graders will draw conclusions, using information from texts (nonfiction)They will also able to determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas
Math- Students will continue to understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions. Students will compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Students will also learn how and why decimals are important. People use them everyday in different situations, such as counting money, looking at price tags, reading an odometer. The decimal system is a way to express large and small numbers by utilizing the decimal point
Science- Students will continue the unit on the human body. Student will spend the next 6 weeks comparing the different functions of the skeletal and muscular systems. Students will still continue to work on their science fair projects.

Dear Parents,
It was great seeing you all at Report Card Pick-up. I really appreciate all of the kind words and positive feedback! Please bring in canned good for the canned school drive. Congratulations to Kai Beauchamp Room 206 Student of the Week!
Dear Parents,
Can you believe it is November already? This is the last week of the marking period. Quarter 2, will begin next Monday. A HUGE applause goes out to all of the students who completed the oral book reports dressed as their favorite characters on Friday. The reports were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Reminder: Field Trip Thursday November, 6, 2014 to Kersten Physics Teaching Center There is no school this Friday, November 7, 2014. Also, Report card pick-up is Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Parental Sign-up sheets will go out this week.
Weekly Objectives
Math: Students will continue to solve number stories. They will use the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems. Fourth graders will review strategies for solving word problems. Students will also work on solving open sentences.
Social Studies: Fourth graders will continue to work with current events so that we can be aware of the world around us and how those events can affect our lives. Students will read and understand grade-level-appropriate material from “Time For Kids” http://www.timeforkids.com/ . They draw upon a variety of comprehension strategies as needed (e.g., generating and responding to essential questions, making predictions, comparing information from several sources).
EXTRA CREDIT- ALL DUE BY THURSDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2014
Also, please save your voting receipts students will receive 50 points EXTRA CREDIT if students bring in a voting receipt. Limit 2
Social Studies EXTRA CREDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Students will be allowed to choose up to two articles from the TFK website and answer the following questions:

Science: Students will continue studying the process of proposing and testing hypothesis (Scientific Method). Students will r complete project summaries for the classroom science fair. Fourth graders will continue to discuss experiments that are of interest to them in preparation for our classroom science fair in December. Here are some websites you can visit with your 4th grader for science project ideas. Students will work on project summaries in class.

Writing: Topic: “Why I am Thankful”. Students will begin with their 1st drafts –
Provide an introductory paragraph.
Establish and support a central idea with a topic sentence at or near the beginning of the first paragraph.
Include supporting paragraphs with simple facts, details, and explanations.
Conclude with a paragraph that summarizes the points.
Use correct indention.
