Dear Parents,

It’s Invention Convention Time! This week students are to work on their invention convention outlines. Each student received a copy of questions that must be completed by Friday, May 30th. Also, this Friday is our class field trip to the Musuem of Science and Industry. Please make certain you pack a bagged lunch  for your child.

Thursday: Literacy: Journal Entry # 25: These are famous quotes by the late great Maya Angelou. Select one quote and write how this applies to your life. 1) “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud”  or 2.) “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”   Book Log  is due on Friday May 30, 2014 (Only for students who did not turn in a log for the week of May 19th)  Math- None  Social Studies- Study Midwest Regions (Test Oral/ Map Monday June 3, 2014) Science Invention Convention Outline (Due Friday May 30, 2014) 

Friday: Social Studies- Study Midwest Regions (Test Oral/ Map Monday June 3, 2014)  Science Begin Invention Convention Posterboard. Finalize protypes. Students may bring posterboards to school Monday June 2, 2014. The Invention Convention is Thursday June 5, 2014. Reminder: The Ray School Olympics for 4th grade are being held this Monday June 2, 2014. Make certain students wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes.

Dear Parents,

The “Tribute to an Inventor” group project will be due Tuesday, May 27th instead of  Friday, May 23rd. This is an in class assignment. Students will have the opportunity to complete research papers and  their poster board presentations in class.  Many students are excited and would like to work on it at home as well, so please encourage them!

Friday:   Literacy- Book Log (optional) NO HOMEWORK. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Math: Students will identify geometric solids and their properties. Students will review addition and subtraction involving negative and positive integers.

Reading: Students will set a purpose for their reading. Students will analyze the relationships between characters. Students will identify ways they are alike and different.

Social Studies: Students will continue to enhance their learning about the United States and its 5 regions.  Students will use historical maps, flow charts, and timelines. 

Science: “Invention Convention” Students should have finalized their “inventions” This week students will create a detailed sketch of their invention and a description of how it will be built.  The Invention Convention will be  Thursday, June 5, 2014.
