Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for coming out to report card pick-up this week. I so enjoyed meeting with each of you! This week begins the Ray School Book Fair students will have the opportunity to purchase books on Wednesday April 9, 2014. Also, Thursday April 10, 2014 is SPIRIT DAY!!!!! Students should wear their Ray School apparel. That evening is also the Ray School Spring Festival from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30p.m.

Math – This week students will complete Unit 9. Students will have their Unit assessment on Friday. Students will begin Unit 10 (Explorations with reflections of 2-dimensional figures) .

Literacy– This week we will begin the story ““Isaac Asimov” (Anchor Text). The skills and strategies for this story are Identifying Author’s Purpose, Author’s Choice, Inferencing and Questioning. Students will also learn the appropriate ways to use various forms of figurative language in their writing. April is poetry month students began the month by reading “A Dream Deferred” & “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes “This week students will read “Dear Teenager” by Bruce B. Wilmer.

Social Studies – Students will also locate the United States and its various regions on the map. Students will begin to identify states and capital by region. With What other regions does the United States share North America? (Social Studies Text).

Science – This week students will continue studying the human body (Revisited). Students will study the digestive, circulatory and nervous systems.
